This summer, our team will be lead by Olympian, Chris Jarvis and filled with other athletes from the Diabetes community ~ Coached by the excellent Dominic kahn of the Bayside Rowing Club in Toronto. We will be rowing along side Toronto's Police Service and charging up the Toronto waterfront in a rowing challenge to advocate for people living with diabetes and support programs from Diabetes Hope Foundation that reach children and youth with type 1 diabetes.
The Challenge for Hope Rowing and Viking Festival is Toronto's newest rowing event brought to the community to raise awareness and funding for Ontario children and youth living with diabetes by 4 hosting partners: Bayside Rowing Club, Diabetes Hope Foundation, I Challenge Diabetes and Toronto Police Service.
The event will also feature a BBQ with games held at the Bayside Rowing club for family, friends and guests who are supporters of this important cause. While the rowers are racing across the waterfront, guests will be treated to live music, entertainment, food and refreshments.
Proceeds raised from this event will support Diabetes Hope Foundation's camp programming and send at-risk and low-income children and youth away to camp in 2012.
On Saturday August 20th, come out and row with us! Take a chance to challenge an Olympian on the Erg, a fun program that takes advantage of the long row to give anyone a chance to beat an Olympian in his own sport!
