9,000 Days Challenging Diabetes!!!
On August 20th, I am participating in the Challenge for Hope rowing event to raise funds for a cause that is very important to me. I am proud to support a cause that touches so many children and adults in Canada and that I live with every day. Once you acquire diabetes, you have no option but to live with it, manage it and control it 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - for the rest of your life. It's never easy. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes almost 25 years ago. I have experienced so many ups and downs with this disease (literally) and it has really challenged me with countless paramedic "rescues" thanks to low blood sugars. I haven't let diabetes stop me from experiencing life and the world though! Since I Challenge Diabetes has come into my life, I have been managing my diabetes even better and learning so much - all while making incredible new friends who mean the world to me and inspire me to be the best I can be! Every donation counts and helps I Challenge Diabetes and the Diabetes Hope Foundation move closer to achieving their vision of providing diabetics with the survival tools they need to achieve success in all areas of their lives to maintain good health in the years to come.
About the Challenge The Challenge for Hope Rowing is Toronto's newest rowing event brought to the community to raise awareness and funding for children and youth living with diabetes by 4 hosting partners ? Bayside Rowing Club, Diabetes Hope Foundation, I Challenge Diabetes and Toronto Police Service. This is the event?s inaugural year and will take place on August 20th at the Bayside Rowing Club along Toronto?s waterfront. Our community event will be a public event open to all interested and will be free to attendees. Proceeds from the event will support Diabetes Hope Foundation?s diabetes camp programming for children and youth living with type 1 diabetes. With your support, Diabetes Hope Foundation will send at-risk and low-income youth with diabetes away to camp in 2012.
Thank-you for your support! Amanda XOX
